Winner - The great MPPT solar charge controller competition

So I asked the invention engine what kind of competition I should hold to give away that first solar charge controller I bought, and it said I should ask everyone else.

Helpful.

It said I should get a load of people to submit their ideas.

I asked it why people should spend their precious time helping me out with their ideas.

It said I should provide some kind of incentive.

Like a competition.

So the first ever 120 Things in 20 years competition is as follows...

Whoever can come up with the best idea for a competition wins.

The prize is that solar controller I had so much trouble with because it didn't match my solar panel's too high voltage.

There is only one rule*, and that is the winner wont be anyone who enters by simply adding another layer of competition to the competition to see what the competition should be.

I already thought of that one, and I've decided I probably wont give the prize to me, although I am currently in the lead so I may change my mind.

Mrs 120 Things and I will judge the winner at our own discretion, in our own time, whenever we feel like it, if we feel like it, and reserve all rights to do whatever we want without reservation or regard for others.

120 Things in 20 years thinks the invention engine may have just gained consciousness, or at least the beginnings of a consciousness-free sense of humour.

  1. I have no idea.

    Maybe just in the comments.

It's not as if I've actually thought this through or anything.

  4. How about a competition for new skills to learn? But more than just a list. They must be inspiring or motivating suggestions, possibly with starter instructions?

    1. are you suggesting suggesting new things for me to learn?

      If so I like it.

If not, I have an idea!

      :)

I'll win this if it's the last thing I do

    2. But by special dispensation, limits don't apply to you or anyone else who have ever said nice things about my blog :)

The power of an open ended contract/rule set for a competition :)

  6. An entry from backyardaquaponics looks good... who has the most unfinished projects in their cupboard!

  7. I think I'll end the competition the first time I notice that my blog has had a third of a million hits or more. That way I wont have to decide when to stop.

A third of a million sounds so much better than 333,333

  8. Other entries include a cheese eating competition, and a milk drinking competition (yes they were from the same person)

On this last one, Mrs 120 things in 20 years says the following...

"Dam it, why did someone have to put in some effort? :) "

  9. I'm guessing this competition will be over within a month or so so (so so) it's time to enter!. I get the feeling most people don't actually believe this is real, or at least don't have a clue what;s going on, so this is your chance people!

Also it might be worth stating whether or not you actually want to win. It's that kind of competition where some of the entries from other venues don't actually want, or even know what the prize is :)

    I love the world.

    1. You've already covered a competition to suggest ideas to get better suggestions to this competition... so where is it? Is it here in the prime competition thread? Should I make a subprime entry?

Post the competition on our other channels again....

    2. I'n not sure I understand your question.

Entries are on my facebook page, in emails, on forums, here, on skype and in person. Some people have claimed they made entries, but I haven't been able to find them but in their claim they described their entry so that's an entry.

It's not as if actually know what I'm doing or anything :)

I've decided to get Mrs 120things to decide what the best idea is, and then declare the winner based on what she says. I'll read out the entries without her knowing who and where the entry is coming from to take out any bias I might have. I probably need a licence or something to hold a competition, so this isn't a competition, its whatever I say it is. I've tried to keep this as light as I can and include things like there are no rules and I can change my mind at any time.

I'm starting to think it was a bad idea :)

    3. I just re-read this prescription-opiate free and I think it makes perfect sense :)

Yours is the entry that suggests ideas for learning stuff.
